Important points to consider

The demand for emotional intelligence is increasing in companies and the workplace. When employers look for soft skills, leadership and better communication, they are looking for emotional intelligence. Fortunately, emotional intelligence and soft skills can be trained with awareness and practice. We think it’s great that you want to learn more about your emotions, develop your soft skills and become aware of yourself. There will be benefits both at the workplace, at home and in your social interactions going forward.

What you should consider before selecting the emotional intelligence course for you?

Why do you want to do a course now? Is now the right time for you to do this course? These courses need only a few hours to complete. However, there is extra work to do to practice what you learnt from these courses. There is no point in doing a course and not using it in your daily life. Ideally, you want to be practising what you learn in your day-to-day interactions with your friends, family and work people.

Take a moment to reflect on the hard social situations you have faced recently. Have they been at work, have they been at home, with your children or partner? Or are you having trouble making, keeping or ending friendships? Although the skills you learn in these courses will be useful, knowing where you are having trouble makes it easier to choose the right course for you.

We strongly suggest that you consider the following factors in your decision. You should be mindful of the cost of the course and whether there is a money-back guarantee. You also should check what language that the course is offered in. If you need the course in another language apart from English, check if there are subtitles in your preferred language. In addition, consider how the course is delivered. Some learners prefer to have an audio version, to listen to whilst commuting to work. Some people learn better with checklists and summaries. So, carefully go through the course format and structure before selecting your course.

What you should consider after you enrol in a course?

We strongly encourage you to take notes as you go along with your program. There is nothing like real-life practice when it comes to learning new skills. It is important that you put into practice what you learn, right then and there.

Before signing up for a course spend some time going over the comments and review section. Here you can learn about other people‘s experiences. You can go over the feedback, as this helped us to determine if the course is right for us.

When you are taking a course or program take note of the sections which were really helpful for you. You can also download or print some of the content for future reference if it is an option. This way you can come back and repeat the useful lessons and sections.

It is tempting to skip over certain parts of a program. We are all guilty of this. We might fast forward videos, not do homework or ignore the quizzes along the way. Sometimes, these are the most helpful parts of the course. Open learning is best done by repetition and practising by different methods. Since you are paying for these courses, either with your money and time. So why not commit entirely to the course, to take away the most from it?
